People ask why there is a barbell in the corner of the workshop. Because the bike, however well built, takes only half of the landing. The other half is your ankles, knees and back.
The three exercises
- Box jumps with a soft landing. Not for height, for silence. If you can hear it, you are landing wrong.
- Paused squats. Three seconds at the bottom. Strength in the lowest position is what saves you on a short jump.
- Single-leg deadlifts. Because you never land perfectly symmetrical.
Twenty minutes, three times a week. Not a programme for champions, one for people who want to still be riding at forty.
